Marketing Strategies Freespirit Recreation Uses to Stand Out

I recently had the chance to connect with Freespirit Recreation (FSR), an Overlanding & Outdoors company based in Golden, CO. What caught my eye? They're not afraid to be different.

A Fresh Approach to Brand Marketing

I was initially introduced to FSR through an Instagram ad. Their video campaign immediately drew me in—it was one of the coolest videos I've seen in this industry. I felt compelled to reach out, so I messaged them on Instagram, complimenting their video and commending their brand media and marketing strategies.

Standing Out in a Crowded Market

FSR's approach was different and fresh, which is crucial in an industry with so much competition and so many options. Their unique strategies and engaging content truly set them apart. I’ll highlight a few strategies that caught my attention besides the first video ad:

1) Pinned Instagram Posts showcasing their products

Often, brands pin their most engaging or most viewed post, which may not best describe the brand and can lead to potential customers bouncing out due to lack of proper information.

FSR took a different approach by pinning three posts, each with a great thumbnail (thanks to quality photography) showcasing their top-selling and newest products. This strategy allows potential customers to quickly understand FSR's offerings and get a glimpse of who they are within seconds.

2) FSR Understands the Value of Long-Form Content

Scrolling down on their Instagram, I saw that they had clips of their podcast, which again is super rare to see on the brand side, and within this industry. So yet another strategy that helped FSR stand out from the crowd.

Those long-form podcast episodes can be cut down to clips, which FSR did, and then when I checked out their Youtube channel which is easily accessible, they had the podcast episodes (full length) amongst many other forms of long-form content., including educational & promotional.

3) Quality Photography throughout the FSR website

This goes without question, but the value of not just quality photography, but also consistent and accurate visuals, can significantly boost brand presence and develop that TRUST factor with potential customers.

Overall, FSR did a great job. Great banner images followed with tons of original—not Stock—photography sprinkled throughout every page created that brand consistency, & conveyed professionalism.
